Custom Garages on a Shoreline That Was Farmland Until 1943
Before 1943, the land under today's Geist Reservoir shoreline was farmland and the small village of Germantown — all of it flooded when the Indianapolis Water Company completed the dam and filled the reservoir that March. Everything built along the shoreline since has gone up from the 1980s forward, tending toward larger, custom homes with two-, three-, or even four-car garages designed to match.
Custom Sizing, Higher-End Requests
We see more custom sizing and higher-end door and opener requests in Geist than in a typical Fishers subdivision, reflecting the larger custom-home stock built along the shoreline.
